Hikers love the region and its rolling hills in the west and the 1,800 m Höllengebirge mountains in the south. The lake is also easy to reach from the Roman Cycle Trail and the Salzkammergut Cycle Trail. Since 2012, Attersee-Traunsee Nature Park has covered 77 m2 between the Attersee holiday region and the waters of the Traunsee.
